Frost free models: why the defrost system is the weak point
A frost free fridge freezer doesn't build up frost because a fan circulates cold air from a hidden evaporator, and every few hours a defrost heater melts the ice that forms on it. That's the system's weak point: if the heater, the thermal fuse or the defrost sensor fails, the evaporator turns into a block of ice, the fan can no longer move air, and the appliance stops cooling even though the compressor is running perfectly.
So when you tell us "the motor is running but it isn't cooling" on a frost free model, the first thing we take off is the rear panel of the freezer. In most cases the problem is there, not in the gas circuit.
