Tumble dryer repair in Barcelona

We repair heat pump, condenser and vented tumble dryers across Barcelona and the metropolitan area. Most "it won't dry" calls aren't an electronic fault at all: they're filters and condensers packed with lint, stopping air from circulating.

Quick answer

If a tumble dryer isn't drying, the first things to check are the lint filter and the condenser; on heat pump dryers, a blocked heat exchanger is the most common cause by far. If it isn't heating, it's usually the element or the safety thermostat. We repair at your home in Barcelona within 24–48 hours with a written warranty.

Heat pump dryers: efficient, but demanding about cleaning

A heat pump dryer uses considerably less energy than a conventional element dryer, because instead of heating air and throwing it away, it recirculates the same air in a closed loop through a small refrigeration circuit. The price of that efficiency is that it runs at lower temperatures and is far more sensitive to lint blockage.

Many models have two or three filters: the visible one in the door, a secondary one behind the plinth, and the heat exchanger (evaporator) itself, which almost nobody ever reaches. When that exchanger blinds up with fine lint, the machine stops drying even though everything is working. It is comfortably the most common reason we get called to this type of dryer.

Why fabric softener wrecks the moisture sensor

Modern dryers end the cycle when two metal sensors inside the drum detect that the load is dry by measuring its conductivity. Fabric softener leaves an invisible film across those sensors that insulates them: the machine "reads" dry laundry while it's still damp and cuts the programme short.

The fix is to wipe the sensors with a cloth and a little vinegar every so often. If you call us about "it stops before it finishes", that's the first thing we check.

Frequently asked questions

My dryer heats but doesn't dry — what's wrong?

That's the classic symptom of a blocked air circuit: lint filter, plinth filter or heat exchanger. On heat pump dryers the exchanger is the most common cause and it can't be reached without dismantling.

How often should I clean the filter?

The door filter after every cycle. The condenser or secondary plinth filter roughly once a month. It's the maintenance that prevents the most faults on this appliance.

Why does the programme stop before it finishes?

Usually because the drum moisture sensors are coated in a film of fabric softener and read the laundry as dry. Cleaning them makes the problem disappear.

Do heat pump dryers use a lot of electricity?

Considerably less than element dryers, because they recirculate air in a closed loop rather than heating and expelling it. In exchange they demand more discipline about filter cleaning.

Do you repair older vented dryers?

Yes. They're the mechanically simplest: element, thermostats, belt and bearings. The repair is usually inexpensive.

Can I stack the dryer on top of the washing machine?

Yes, always using the manufacturer's stacking kit. Stacking without one causes vibration that eventually damages the bearings on both machines.
