Is it worth repairing your fridge or buying a new one?
The rule of thumb we apply on every visit: if the repair comes to more than 50% of the price of an equivalent new fridge and the appliance is over 10 years old, it usually isn't worth it. We'll tell you that honestly before we invoice anything, even when it means there's no repair for us to do.

What you can check before calling us
- Power is reaching it: test the socket with another appliance and check the RCD in your consumer unit.
- The temperature dial: in summer it's worth turning it up a notch. A very low setting doesn't cool better, it just freezes the back wall.
- The rear grille: if it's clogged with dust the condenser can't shed heat and the fridge cools worse. Vacuum it with the appliance unplugged.
- Clearance from the wall: it needs a few centimetres of air behind and at the sides.
If it's still the same after that, it's a genuine fault. Switch it off and call us: running it under strain pushes up your electricity bill and can damage the compressor.
